H1N1 with no fever neg test but doc said he has it?

Question:
Took son to doc. negative influ. A test but doc says he has it. and treating with Tamiflu. H1n1 is a panademic in our county also. Kids in his school have it. But he has no fever. He had a headache that would not ago away, stomache, slight sore throat and a backache.

He has asthma and right now it is really bad.
But he is acting normal. He looks tired. But just takes naps here and there. Up walking around eating etc.

What I want to know is
Ask this question earlier today but wanted to ask again Thank you

Has anyone heard of someone having H1N1 with no fever and with minor symptoms. I am confused.

Answer:
It is very common for a carrier of the virus to have experienced a fever as a symptom. If he has not, it's highly unlikely he's a carrier, but it can happen.

Although, he should have had muscle aches everywhere. I'm in doubt, but don't take my word for it.

Answer:
Definitely.

As with seasonal influenza, H1N1 influenza does not produce a fever in everyone. Most people, but by no means all

And most of the tests that are done in-house to test for Influenza A do not always catch every case....there are false positives. Your doc was absolutely right to assume positive and, in your son's case (asthma) treat him with Tamiflu right away.

Most people who get H1N1 will have mild symptoms. So what you have described is not uncommon!

Found out yesterday that I have swine flu...when should i be able to go back to work?

Question:
I have been feeling "symptoms" since friday night, but I just found out yesterday (monday morning) that it is in fact swine flu, and gave me Tamiflu. The doctor gave me a note to go back to work on wednesday. I work with infants, do you think I will be okay to still go back to work tomorrow?
Answer:
well, from my point of view, i say once the virus has cleared (once you feel better) then you may go back. but give yourself 1-2 days after you feel better so you can feel 100% sure.
the flu isnt bad but better off not handing it over to the infants..
stay home
and get well soon!

Has the H1N1 Flu hit your house yet?

Question:
So it finally hit my house. My almost 9 month old son has the Swine Flu. We spent hours in the ER last night, because his fever was so high and he was panting like a dog. Has any body else had thier chitheirtch it? How long did the fever last? He was too young to get the Tamiflu so we're just doing Tylenol and Motrin and trying to push fluids.
Answer:
yes! unfortunately my daughter has it! :(

Help...i have either tami flu or swine flu...cold hands and feet yet very high temperature?

Question:
i have a fever of between 103-104 F. i went to the doctor's today and she gave me TAMIFLU. my doctor said if i eat it and my fever doesn't go down, it means i DON'T have swine flu. but she said if my fever DOES reduce, then i DO have swine flu.
anyways, i've eaten my first dose of TAMIFLU at 5:20 PM (U.S. time) and my next dose is at 5:20 AM.
anyways...i've been miserable ystrday and today. i'm freezing cold but my body is way too hot for me to put any blankets on or such.
plus...i haven't pooped since ystrday.
any advice on anything..please do give. i am just effing miserable right now. stomach feels pretty full in a bad way, rarely coughing, stuffy nose, blazing fever (i just ate 2 tablets of ibuprofen), cold hands and feet, slight dizziness...and lonliness.
i'm scared to go to sleep too. in case my fever goes up even higher.
Answer:
If you have any sort of flu, the Tamiflu medicine will help reduce the amount of time you feel ill. You may have swine flu, you may have another sort. If what ails you isn't a viral infection, the medicine will have no effect on you at all. In the meantime, you are just going to feel ratty. The best thing you could do is rest and drink plenty of fluids, and sleep would not be a bad idea. The Ibuprofen should help lower your temperature to below 102, and allow you to be comfy enough to sleep. Sleep is an excellent healer, since it will let your body concentrate on beating off the buggies. Take the Tamiflu as prescribed, and just drink until your molars threaten to float out of your mouth. You can eat whatever you like or feel up to, though things like soup usually go down easiest. This is the time to put on your favorite ratty jammies, put in a favorite old movie, and curl up on the couch with a pillow and blanket. It's not the time to be sociable. Leave the phone and the computer alone for a while. If it's flu, and the Tamiflu is successful, you can look forward to rejoining the human race in about a week. Until then, you are just ratty no matter what you do. Sorry, there are no miracle cures. Drink and rest, dear. Source(s): nurse
