How to look after child when you have swine flu?

Question:
i have swine flu and am the single mother of a two year old. I've had it for two days now, today is worse. i can barely stand up, i cannot eat a thing but i have somehow managed to keep my baby clothed and fed and warm. just wondering if anyone else has been in this position. i am in so much physical pain and am so weak and tired, all i want to do is sleep. i have no tv and no support round here at all. also wondering how long it will last? it doesn't seem to be getting any better and am too weak to go to the chemist and get tamiflu
Answer:
We are so sorry to hear you feel unwell and we know it's difficult to look after a toddler while you are sick. Honestly, you are in a very difficult situation but it sounds like you are doing a great job - your baby is clothed fed and warm so just do the necessities for the next few days.

You are likely to feel unwell for about a week. We suggest if you are taking any over the counter medication for pain relief that you time it so it will be most effective when your toddler is most active. Remember it takes about 15-20 minutes for most people to get relief. That way it will work best when you are tending to your child.

Also, when you do have to dress the baby or prepare a meal get out the next change of cloths and prepare 2 meals at once. I will only take a few more minutes but you can be somewhat prepared for the next feeding or changing time.

Take a few minutes to put some necessities right beside your couch if that is where you are resting. Have your toddlers toys, books and other things they like to do within arms reach.

You said you don't have a TV but could you find a couple of videos online your toddler could watch or some music they may like to listen too - it will kept them entertained and you can continue to rest.

Most important, as soon as your little one is off to bed, no matter what you feel must get done, just leave it! Go sleep each and every time your toddler is sleeping.

We know this isn't a lot of help but we hope a couple suggestions help you out. Let's hope your baby doesn't get sick too. We have a great Squidoo Lens that you can get to from our home page http://www.newchildsafety.com that talks all about Children and H1N1.

Good luck and everyone here at New Child Safety is hoping you feel better soon!!! Source(s): www.newchildsafety.com

My husband just got confirmed for the flu. He has been home for 3 days and finally he went to th dr?

Question:
they gave me a prescription for tamiflu too because they said i will for sure get it. my question is if i only feel tired and a little bit of body ache but nothing bad should i start it or wait until i have more pronounced symptoms? how does tamiflu make you feel and do we need to eat before we take it
Answer:
Since you can use tamiflu to prevent a flu altogether, it's definitely safe to take when you have the first symptoms. The earlier you start, the faster you'll get better and the less sick you'll get.
